Fittler urges fans to support Blatchys Blues

Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler has urged fans to throw their support behind the 2019 Holden State of Origin series as the Blues look to claim a series three-peat for the first time since 2005.

Fittler was on deck alongside Maroons coach Kevin Walters, South Australian Premier Steven Marshall and NRL Head of Football Graham Annesley at the 2020 Origin series launch just near the venue for Game One, the iconic Adelaide Oval.

The Blues have claimed back-to-back series wins in Fittler’s first two years as coach – with both series-defining games played in-front of boisterous crowds at the Blues’ spiritual home, ANZ Stadium.

The Game Two fixture will also be a special occasion in 2020 as it will be the final game that’s played at ANZ Stadium before the venue undergoes a refurbishment.

A historic opening game will also played for the first time at Adelaide Oval and Fittler encouraged all fans, particularly the Blatchys Blues, to show their support in numbers this campaign.

“The first game in Adelaide is really important when you look at how closely contested the series has been - our two series wins have come off victories at home at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium and away at the alternate venues in Melbourne (2018) and Perth (2019),” Fittler said.

“Having the support join of the Blatchys Blues in Adelaide is really important too and we hope our fans make the journey to create a sea of blue like they did in Perth last year where the Blatchys Blues effect was a significant factor in our success.”
