True Blue Nathan Hindmarsh is helping the fight to remove the stigma around mental health by adding his voice to the LIVIN’ charity’s ‘Givin’ 4 Livin’ Day’.

The organisation will make its fundraising push tomorrow to keep its programs and treatments available for anyone who wants them.

This year every dollar raised will be matched, doubling the effort needed to help prevent suicides among Australia’s youth.

Hindmarsh said he was glad to speak as an ambassador for the LIVIN’ programs.

“Your donation will provide crucial funds to ensure present and future young Australians have access to mental health education,” Hindmarsh said.

Other aims are to have the best early intervention and prevention initiatives, along with programs designed help people find a way through the mental barriers.

LIVIN’ also has education resources – LIVINWell programs - to help with treatment and behaviour.

The goal is to deliver 500 LIVINWell programs across the country throughout this financial year.

“Help us have life-changing conversations,” LIVIN says.

“Every 40 seconds around the globe, someone takes their own life. Each loss will negatively impact up to 135 more people. We are here to help change that.”

It costs the organisation approximately $19.92 per student to deliver the 45-minute LIVINWell program in schools.

So tomorrow, with every $1 donated being matched by LIVIN’s generous sponsors, $20 becomes $40, which means two students benefit from a LIVINWell conversation.

“You know what makes scoring a try better?” Hindmarsh said.

“It’s when you get the conversion and an extra two points. So how good would it be if a conversion was worth double? Well you can double your efforts on the 14th of October by donating to the Givin 4 Livin’ Day.”
