Westpac NSW Sky Blues forward Millie Elliott will call on the help of four State of Origin teammates as she delivers inclusion and accessibility education workshops to nine towns across the state next month.
Elliott will be joined by Kezie Apps, Emma Tonegato, Keeley Davis and Olivia Kernick as she travels to Bega, Batemans Bay, Lake Illawarra, Wagga Wagga, Orange, Dubbo, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour and Murwillumbah from 5-23 February.
The 25 year-old Cobargo Eels junior has rural Rugby League and disability inclusion in her background.
After founding Trainer Group Foundation in 2022, a registered not-for-profit, she has been facilitating five-week ‘Game Changer’ education programs and single-day school holiday workshops to various NRL clubs over the past couple of years.
She is now looking at working alongside regional Rugby League clubs and PCYCs to provide opportunities for people outside of metropolitan areas.
“I can’t wait to bring our Trainer Group programs to the country, which is where it all started for me,” Elliott said.
“The opportunity to connect with participants across NSW who wouldn’t normally have access to programs like ours is something I’m excited about, and very thankful to the New South Wales Rugby League and Westpac for helping it come to life.
“Kezie, Emma, Keeley and Olivia each have lived and/or have professional experience in disability and education facilitation, which is quite unique. They’re all really looking forward to meeting everyone across the road trip as well.”
In each location listed below there will be a workshop in the morning for recent school leavers/adults and a workshop in the afternoon for school-aged children. The workshops are two hours in length, comprised of indoor/outdoor learning, with support workers welcome.
“Our programs have been designed for people looking to make new friends, improve mental and physical health and become more confident to get out in community. They’re always a lot of fun and in this case, the perfect way to kickstart the year,” Elliott said.
