Taufa resigns with Raiders until 2027
Westpac NSW Sky Blues forward Simaima Taufa has extended her time at the Canberra Raiders NRLW club until the end of 2027.
Her Raiders co-captain for the inaugural season last year, Zahara Temara, has also re-signed until 2026.
The pair led their team to five wins from nine games, just missing the Semi-finals by two competition points.
Raiders NRLW coach Darrin Borthwick said he was excited for Taufa to lock-in her long-term playing future.
“I think it’s a credit to the work that Simaima put in in our inaugural season and the work that she did as our captain and leader,” Borthwick told raiders.com.au
“To know that she’s secured here for some time now, I know that this place will be held in good stead and the culture that we built in year one will be well and truly looked after in years to come.”
Taufa is the third most-capped NSW Sky Blue player with nine interstate games, after Kezie Apps (11) and Isabelle Kelly (10).
She also led Mounties to the 2023 Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership Grand Final win over Canterbury-Bankstown.
Taufa said she was pleased to lock in her future at the Raiders and to continue being part of the club’s NRLW journey.
“I am extremely proud, grateful and honoured to be able to call Canberra home for the next few years,” Taufa said.
“The journey of the Canberra Raiders NRLW team has only begun and there’s a lot to look forward to.
