The motivation behind Brown's Origin form

If there was ever a player that was made for the State of Origin arena, Parramatta enforcer Nathan Brown is exactly that.

Known for his fearless approach to the game with deft ball-playing skills in the middle of the park and the ability to bend the line with a damaging run, Brown is an ideal candidate to make his Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues debut in 2020.

Speaking to NSWRL.com.au about the driving factor behind his playing style and career-best form this season, it was family first for the 27-year-old.

“Obviously family’s the number one, and it’s the love of the game, to just go out there and enjoy it.

“I just love playing rugby league.”

Asked what the experience was like to receive the phone call by Brad Fittler to join his 27-man squad, Brown recalled a bittersweet moment only hours after Parramatta were eliminated by South Sydney in their NRL semi-final clash.

“I was driving to the (Eels) review straight after the game in the morning and was obviously very disappointed going to training," Brown said.

“There was mixed emotions getting the call from Freddy – we obviously lost the semi-final the night before.

“It was amazing (to get the phone call) and I couldn’t wait to tell my family.”
