Trbojevic cleared to play in good news for Blues
Westpac NSW Blues centre Tom Trbojevic will play for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles this Friday, which paves the way for his selection for Origin Game Two at Suncorp Stadium on 21 June.
Trbojevic came from the field in 68th minute of Game One in Adelaide last week after a heavy collision with Maroons prop Tom Flegler, who was sin-binned for the contact.
Trboejvic didn’t return to the field, which threw doubts on his capacity to play Game Two on Wednesday 21 June in Brisbane.
Manly chief executive Tony Mestrov said the NRL had been informed of Trbojevic’s progress and he had been cleared to play for the Sea Eagles against the Dolphins at 4 Pines Park in Brookvale on Friday night.
Mestrov made it clear in a club statement today the 26 year-old former Dally M Medal winner had not suffered concussion.
“Our Chief Club Medical Officer, Dr Paul Bloomfield, agreed that Tom had to be removed from the field but at no point was he diagnosed with concussion,’’ Mestrov said.
“Furthermore, Tom does not have a history of concussion issues.
“Throughout this process, Tom has not been diagnosed with concussion from either NSW’s Dr Nathan Gibbs, Dr Bloomfield, or independent doctor, Dr Chris Levi.”
Mestrov said Trbojevic’s welfare had always been the club’s priority.
In his ninth game for the NSW Blues last week, Trbojevic made 18 runs for 137 metres, two tackle-busts and an off-load.
