Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues forward Jake Trbojevic has been ruled out of Game Two of the Ampol State of Origin series with a hip injury.

NSW coach Brad Fittler revealed the news during Friday night’s match between Penrith Panthers and Sydney Roosters at BlueBet Stadium.

“I’ve spoken to Manly, and I’ve spoken to the Manly doctor who’s also our doctor and Jake’s had an incident at training,” Fittler said.

“He’s not going to be out for too long. He’s going to be available for the Manly game after the bye so most probably Origin III as well.

“It’s a real shame.”

Trbojevic started at prop for the Blues in Game One which saw them take a 1-0 lead in the series after downing Queensland 50-6 in Townsville.

Fittler will name his team for Game Two in Brisbane on Sunday June 27 and indicated Angus Crichton could come into calculations after the Roosters back-rower missed Game One through suspension.

“The good thing about Angus is he plays on an edge and in the middle, very much like Liam Martin,” Fittler said.

“As you saw tonight sometimes you don’t know what’s going to happen, the ball’s going to get thrown in the air and you’ve got to fill in holes and Angus Crichton is able to do that.

“He did that for us last year.”
